The Model 504 Series is a workhorse of a machine with a simple, elegant design that revolutionized the maintenance of heat exchangers when it was introduced to the market in 1969 by B.J. Travis and Hydro-Extractors. The original design is still a proven performer evidenced by the fact that many of our units that are 30+ years old are still in service.
The standard Model 504 is a 20’ unit. The Model 504-S can be manufactured in sizes up to 32’ in length and can be custom designed for any number of applications.
The customer has the option of an air or diesel powered unit. The diesel powered unit is a self-contained unit, while the air powered unit needs a simple air source of plant air, or a portable air compressor.
These units have the option of two pulling sources: the main hydraulic cylinder mounted on the main car, or for a continuous push/pull, the chain motors.
The units are designed with a standard manual control system for all unity functions, however we offer an optional complete remote control system for all functions on our diesel powered units. As a standard design, we provide a remote control for the main hydraulic cylinder only, whereby the operator can stand at a safe distance during the initial break-out of the tube bundle.
The single hook of the Model 504’s main superstructure, with 4-6 lifting points on the main frame, makes for a much safer hydraulic tube bundle extractor. Other extractors provide only two lifting points. With the correct training, the bundles may also be lifted out or situated in the Model 504 without having to remove the upper superstructure.
